NACH DEM WALD

SPACED OUT Kerkow / 2026

Nach dem Wald, curated by PSM Gallery, brought together works by Raphaël Fischer-Dieskau and Nils Blau at SPACED OUT on Gut Kerkow, exploring the forest not as an untouched natural space, but as something increasingly shaped, mediated and reconstructed by human intervention.

Nils Blau’s ceramic sculptures occupied the space between the organic and the artificial. Drawing on geological and dendrological forms, his works suggested fragments of an unfamiliar natural world while remaining visibly constructed. Their ambiguous forms oscillated between recognizable natural structures and strange, autonomous bodies, questioning where the boundary between natural phenomenon and human-made image might lie.

Together, the works in Nach dem Wald proposed a speculative landscape: a forest after the forest. Rather than depicting ecological catastrophe directly, the exhibition approached a future in which nature may only be encountered through its replicas, remnants and technological echoes. The forest becomes both material and metaphor — a space in which ideas of preservation, control, loss and reconstruction converge.

Presented within the agricultural and rural setting of Gut Kerkow, the exhibition placed these questions in direct dialogue with an actual landscape. SPACED OUT, a project developed by Gut Kerkow in collaboration with PSM Gallery, creates a context in which contemporary art is encountered outside the urban exhibition environment, allowing the works to enter into a different relationship with land, agriculture and the realities of the natural world.
