SEEDS

Varying Sizes / Ceramics, Ash Glaze / 2024

This series comprises a group of ceramic sculptures that draw on the forms and structures of various plant seeds. The ceramics are tinted with glazes made from the ashes of indigenous trees, bringing the material of the works into relation with the natural forms that inspire them. The series explores the aesthetic and functional qualities of seeds as systems for storing information. Seeds exist in a state of relative permanence, capable of surviving over long periods while carrying within them the essential potential for life, transformation and growth. The sculptures reflect on this tension between stillness and potential, permanence and change.
